BUILDING A SAGA S-STYLE

Note from GuitarAttack:  Here is the kind of story we like to hear.  Mr. Curry did a great job on this instrument, and check out what he has to say about the kit.  It sounds like a positive guitar building experience!

I saw your "Saga Saga's" feature and your invitation for submissions.
Here's mine. . .

We built a Saga ST-10 kit with the idea that it would be a relatively simple first-time guitar building project. We built the kit as supplied with no modifications. We followed the directions and everything went together without a hitch.

The finish is plain old hardware store spray enamel and clear coat. The headstock shape was copied from my 1978 Fender Mustang.

I'm still dialing in the setup, but it seems to play just fine. The only complaint at this point is with the volume pot. As the knob is turned from 0 to 10 the increase is not smooth over the range. There is a big jump between 2 and 4, with a more linear increase over the remaining range.

All in all, we're happy with the results.

Great job, John -- Keep on building!
