Applying a finish to the Guitar

I applied a tung oil finish to the guitar, against the advice of ReRanch.  Mr. Lester doesn't like the medium because it is not a good barrier against moisture, particularly alcohol.

However, ReRanch products were not readily available, so I decided to go the tung oil route.  Application was incredibly easy, and I tried to put too much on initially.  Less is more with tung oil, and remember to use it sparingly.

The mahogany took on a nice red color, and the beauty of the wood really came out.  Once the tung oil dried for two days, I buffed it out and applied Johnson's Paste Wax to bring out a nice shine.

Note:  The coffee in the background was absolutely critical to the building process!
